Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Activate the Yeast
- In a bowl, add 1 cup warm water.
- Sprinkle 1 teaspoon dry yeast over the water.
- Let it sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy.
Step 2: Mix the Dough
- Add 3 cups flour to a large bowl.
- Add 1 teaspoon salt.
- Pour in the yeast water.
- Mix with a spoon or your hand until a sticky dough forms.
Step 3: Knead (Very Simple)
- Lightly flour your work surface.
- Knead the dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
- If sticky, add a little flour—but don’t overdo it.
Step 4: First Rise
- Place dough in a bowl.
- Cover with a towel.
- Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour (until doubled).
Step 5: Shape the Bread
- Punch the dough down.
- Shape into a loaf or round bread.
- Place on a baking tray or loaf pan.
Step 6: Second Rise
- Cover again.
- Let rise for 20–30 minutes.
