Ingredients
  

For the Dough:

  • - 330 g flour
  • - 200 g fresh butter or 150 ml vegetable oil
  • - Pinch of salt
  • - 50 g sugar
  • - 120 ml cold water
  • - 12 ml apple cider vinegar or white vinegar

For the Filling:

  • - 700 g cherries pitted
  • - 130 g brown sugar
  • - 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • - Pinch of salt
  • - Juice of 1 lemon

For the Top:

  • - Milk
  • - Sugar
  • These ingredients will create the perfect blend of sweet cherry filling and crispy crust for your Cherry Pie!

Instructions
 

For the Dough:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  • Cut in the fresh butter (or add the vegetable oil) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Mix in the cold water and apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar) until the dough comes together.
  • Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

For the Filling:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the pitted cherries, brown sugar, cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and lemon juice.
  • Stir well to ensure the cherries are evenly coated with the sugar mixture.
  • **Assembling the Pie:**
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Roll out half of the dough on a lightly floured surface and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Pour the cherry filling into the dough-lined pie dish.
  • Roll out the remaining dough and place it over the filling. Trim and crimp the edges to seal.
  • Brush the top of the pie with milk and sprinkle with sugar for a caramelized finish.

Baking:

  • Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
