  • Rise: 1½–2 hours
  • Bake: 15–18 minutes
  • Makes: 12–15 rolls

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk (240 ml – not hot)
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3½–4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Extra butter, melted (for brushing)

👩‍🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Activate the Yeast

  • In a large bowl, combine warm milksugar, and yeast
  • Stir gently and let sit 5–10 minutes
  • It should become foamy (this means the yeast is active)

Step 2: Make the Dough

  • Add melted butteregg, and salt
  • Mix well
  • Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms

Step 3: Knead

  • Transfer dough to a floured surface
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic
(or knead 5–6 minutes using a mixer with dough hook)

Step 4: First Rise

  • Place dough in a lightly greased bowl
  • Cover with a clean towel
  • Let rise in a warm place 1–1½ hours, until doubled in size

Step 5: Shape the Rolls

  • Punch down the dough
  • Divide into 12–15 equal pieces
  • Roll each piece into a smooth ball
  • Place into a buttered baking dish

Step 6: Second Rise

  • Cover and let rise again 30–45 minutes
  • Rolls should be puffy and touching

Step 7: Bake

  • Preheat oven to 190°C / 375°F
  • Bake for 15–18 minutes until lightly golden

Step 8: Butter Finish

  • Remove from oven
  • Immediately brush generously with melted butter
  • Let cool slightly and serve warm 🤤

🌟 Tips for Ultra-Soft Rolls

  • Do not add too much flour — dough should be slightly sticky
  • Milk + butter = softness
  • Brushing butter while hot keeps rolls tender longer
