Ingredients:
- 1 cup of water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
For the coating:
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Directions:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove it from the heat. Stir in the flour until a dough ball forms.
- Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- Using a pastry bag fitted with a star tip, pipe strips of dough into the hot oil. Fry until they turn golden brown, then drain them on paper towels.
- In a separate bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of sugar and cinnamon. While the churros are still hot, roll them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture until evenly coated.
